Description

Mum and Baby Yoga is a great way to strengthen and nurture yourself after your child's birth and take time out for yourself in the company of your little one. Mum and Baby Yoga incorporates stretches and yoga poses for your baby followed by breath relaxation techniques and focused yoga postures for yourself whilst interacting with your baby.

The benefits of Mum and Baby Yoga include strengthening the back, abdominal and pelvic floor muscles and improve overall posture and release tension in the neck and shoulders. Relaxing breathing techniques can help to centre yourself and promote calmness and de-stressing.

Mum and Baby Yoga is a great class to relax and unwind from your week and also a lovely way to meet other new mums and babies.

When to Practise

It is important to rest initially. The first 6 weeks after birth are a time for bonding with the baby and for the mother to recover. By the end of the first eight weeks of the postnatal period, women should be ready to return to their regular practice, but it is important to listen to what your body is ready to do.

This class is suitable for mums from 6-12 weeks postpartum, depending on your birth and clearance from your health provider. Consult your GP for advice on when to resume practicing.

Babies are welcome from 6 weeks until they start to walk.

No previous yoga experience is necessary and feel free to rest, feed or change your baby throughout the class. Please bring along a blanket and pillow and toys for your baby.
